Jeremy Aluma

Founder & Artistic Director

Jeremy Aluma is the Founder & Artistic Director of Four Clowns, and he sits on the Executive Board. He has been a part of the company for all 5 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Four Clowns (Director & Conceiver), Noah & Jonah at Annenberg Beach Community House (Co-Director), Robin Hood at South Coast Repertory (Director), Henry’s Potato at REDCAT (Director), Four Clowns: Romeo & Juliet (Director), Lunatics & Actors (Co-Director), and Sublimity (Co-Director). Aluma is an award-winning theatre director and producer who has directed at numerous theatres around the country including; Theatre Row (Off-Broadway, NYC), South Coast Repertory and Chance Theater (Orange County), Chopin Theatre and Neofuturist Theatre (Chicago), Insurgo Theater Movement (Las Vegas), Exit Theatre (San Francisco), Indy Fringe Theater (Indianapolis), and Space 55 (Phoenix). His favorite LA directing credits include: Pre-Historic Hunt at The Odyssey, Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake) at Sacred Fools, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot with Urban Theatre Movement and Company of Angels, In Arabia We’d All Be Kings with Alive Theatre, and Ubu the Shit! Aluma graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Directing. He has trained in clowning at The Clown School, The Actor’s Center in NYC, and at the Bali Master Conservatory in Indonesia.

David Anis
Managing Director

David Anthony Anis is the Managing Director of Four Clowns, and he sits on the Executive Board. He has been a part of the company for the past 2 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Sublimity (Producer), Somewhere Like Earth (Producer), Henry’s Potato at REDCAT (Producer), and Noah and Jonah at the Annenberg Community Beach House (Assistant Director). Anis is a playwright, theatre producer, performer and director. He studied theatre at Cal State University Long Beach where he graduated in Spring of 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. As an actor he recently played Feste in Twelfth Night with Shakespeare Santa Monica. As a director and producer he recently put up shows at the Long Beach Playhouse and the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Two of his one-acts have been produced at Fullerton’s Directors Festival both winning the honor of selection for the Best of Fest award. David continues to write and produce material that inspires him.

David Bridel
Associate Director

David Bridel is the Associate Director of Four Clowns, and has been a part of the company for the last 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Lunatics and Actors at the Lyric-Hyperion (Writer, Co-Director); Sublimity at the Lyric-Hyperion, the International Drama Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York – Winner, ARC Grant from the Center for Cultural Initiatives and Best Satire at the USF (Writer, Performer, Co-Director); Noah & Jonah (Writer, Co-Director). An award-winning playwright, director, choreographer, performer, and teacher of acting, movement and clown, David’s work has been seen in major theatres and opera houses and festivals across the world, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Tel Aviv, Beijing, Sao Paulo, Paris, Vienna, Munich, Mexico City, Guanuajato, Santiago and Madrid. He is the winner of an Entertainment Weekly Special Events Award, a Zumberge Award, an Anna Sosenko Musical Theatre Award, a NYFA Fiction Award, and his productions have been nominated for the LA Weekly Theatre Awards. David is the Director of the MFA in Acting for the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of Southern California. He is also the Founding & Artistic Director of The Clown School.

Mike Funt
Touring Director

Mike Funt is the Director of Touring of Four Clowns, and he sits on the Executive Board. Four Clowns credits: nationally touring The Day They Hung The Elephant (Writer/Performer), That Beautiful Laugh (Performer), Sublimity (Assistant Director & Stage Manager), Somewhere Like Earth (Conceiver/Writer). Past performances include Jean Lafitte in his original show Jackson-Lafitte: A Vaudeville, The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged, Pantalone in the Commedia dell’Arte Androcles and the Lion, Orgon in Tartuffe, and as a founding member of the internationally touring improv troupe SPF7. Directing credits include: Servant of Two Masters, a stage adaptation of the 1971 film Cold Turkey, and his own translation of Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid. He is an instructor at The Clown School in Hollywood and has taught at iO West, iO in Chicago, and the San Francisco Comedy College. Clown training includes work with David Bridel, Philippe Gaulier, Norman Taylor, Aitor Basauri, John Gilkey of Cirque du Soleil, Avner the Eccentric, and Ringling Bros. Mike is the Theatre Department Chair for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program.

Sara Waugh
Marketing Director

Sara Waugh is the Marketing Director of Four Clowns, and she sits on the Executive Board. She has been a part of the company for the past 2 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Somewhere Like Earth at the Imaginese Festival (Marketing Director), Henry’s Potato at REDCAT (Social Media Marketing Coordinator), Sublimity at the Lyric Hyperion Theatre in Los Angeles and the United Solo Festival in NYC (Co-Marketing Director). Waugh has acquired management and producing experience from her time working with LORT theatres all over the country, including: Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Laura Pels Theatre in NYC, and the Clarence Brown Theatre in Knoxville, TN. She is an MFA/MBA candidate at California State University, Long Beach for Theatre Management, and has also served as the Director of Marketing for the CSULB Theatre Arts Department’s California Repertory Company and University Players; she is currently the Education/Literary Manager. Waugh graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.

Jamie Ann Hultgren
Company Manager

Jamie Ann Hultgren is the Company Manager of Four Clowns, and she sits on the Executive Board. This is her first season as a company member. Jamie makes her performing debut with Four Clowns in Noah & Jonah. She has performed with Guthrie Theater, Jungle Theater, Festival Theater, DCLO, LA Opera, Phantom Projects, Theater Unbound, and National Theater for Children. Her written work has been staged at Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis. Jamie studied at Gustavus Adolphus College (BA), Wesley Balk Music-Theater Institute, Groundlings, Nautilus Music-Theater Composer-Librettist Studio, Loft Literary Center, Theater de La Jeune Lune, and recently completed the Professional Program for Television Writing at the UCLA Graduate School for Theater, Film, and Television. She has been training with The Clown School since 2012.

Ashley Jo Navarro
Resident Stage Manager

Ashley Jo Navarro is the Resident Stage Manager of Four Clowns, and she is company member. She has been a part of the company for the past 2 seasons. Four Clowns credits: That Beautiful Laugh at Long Beach Playhouse (Stage Manager), Me Rich You Learn at 2013 Hollywood Fringe (Stage Manager), and Somewhere Like Earth (Stage Manager). Elsewhere, she has stage managed A Christmas Carol in 2010, 2012, and 2013 (Sierra Madre Playhouse), comedian Brandon Sharkey’s one-man show BS Town Hall Meeting 2012 (The Fake Gallery), Mrs. Scrooge the Musical (West of Broadway), and the West Coast Premiere of Bottom of the World (The Vagrancy Theater Company). She has also served residency for stage management at the Knightsbridge Theater / National Shakespeare Company in Silverlake, Outreach Director for the Hollywood Fight Club Theater, and head choreographer for the Bella Musical Theater Troupe and Bella Music Studios.

Donny Jackson
Resident Lighting Designer

Donny Jackson is the Resident Lighting Designer of Four Clowns, and is a company member. He has been a part of the company for the past 2 seasons. Four Clowns credits: That Beautiful Laugh at Long Beach Playhouse (Lighting Designer), the premiere of The Day They Hung the Elephant at Son of Semele Theatre (Lighting Designer), Sublimity at Lyric-Hyperion Theatre (Lighting Designer), and the NY premiere of Four Clowns at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club (Lighting Designer). Work highlights include: the premiere of Closely Related Keys directed by Shirley Jo Finney (Lounge Theatre), the West Coast premiere of In the Heights (Casa 0101 Theatre), Phenomenal written/directed by Macy Gray (Ramon Cortines Performing Arts), and the premiere of Welcome Back 29ers, written/directed by Emmy-winning “Seinfeld” writer, Sam Henry Kass (Hayworth Theatre). Kevin Klein
Company Member

Kevin Klein serves on the Grants Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. He has been a part of the company for all 5 seasons. Four Clowns credits; Four Clowns at 2010 Hollywood Fringe (Performer as Angry Clown), Four Clowns at La MaMa, Long Beach Playhouse, Sacred Fools, South Coast Repertory and 2011 National Tour (Performer as Mischievous Clown), Robin Hood at South Coast Repertory (Performer as Robin Hood), and Four Clowns: Romeo & Juliet (Performer as Romeo & Nurse). Kevin studied clown at The Clown School under the tutelage of David Bridel and Orlando Pabotoy. In 2005, Kevin toured Los Angeles/Orange County with Shakespeare by the Sea, where he played Jack Rugby in Merry Wives of Windsor. Kevin has performed at the following venues in and around Los Angeles: Sacred Fools Theatre, The Artworks Theatre, Open Fist Theatre, South Coast Repertory, The Garage Theatre, and The Long Beach Playhouse. Amir Levi

Zach Steel

Zach Steel serves on the Marketing Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. He has been a part of the company for the past 4 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Four Clowns: Romeo & Juliet (Performer – Winner of Top of the Fringe, Best World Premiere, Best in Physical Theatre), Lunatics & Actors (Performer), Me Rich You Learn (Writer/Performer – Winner of Best World Premiere, Best in Physical Theatre), and Henry’s Potato at REDCAT (Writer/Performer). Prior to that, Zach studied at The Experimental Theater Wing of NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Throughout, he has continued writing, producing, and performing in his own work in both New York and Los Angeles. Venues include PS 122, St. Anne’s Warehouse, La Mama, etc., The Gene Frankel, The Upright Citizens’ Brigade Theater (LA and NY), and The Asylum Theater in LA. Connor Kelly-Eiding
Company Member

Connor Kelly-Eiding serves on the Marketing Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. She has been a part of the company for the past 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits; That Beautiful Laugh at 2012 Hollywood Fringe & Long Beach Playhouse (Performer as Peking Duck). She is a graduate of the BFA acting program at USC’s School of Theatre and has trained with The Clown School for the past two years. She has performed on many stages across Los Angeles, including The Antaeus Company, the Ivar Theater, the Pico Playhouse, the Asylum Lab Theatre, a bunch of theatres on the campus of USC, a warehouse in Atwater Village, a parking garage in downtown Los Angeles, and several others. Connor is also a member of the Mechanicals Theatre Group. She has provided the narration for audio books for Audible Inc and Penguin Audio, as well as voice over for several industrials and a kids’ computer game.

Julia Davis
Company Member

Julia Davis serves on the Touring Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. She has been a part of the company for the past 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Robin Hood at South Coast Repertory (Performer), That Beautiful Laugh at Long Beach Playhouse (Performer), The Day They Hung The Elephant (Performer), and Somewhere Like Earth at Attic Theatre (Performer). She is continuing working on The Day They Hung The Elephant with fellow company member Mike Funt, preparing to take it around the country. Theatre credits include: For The Birds (Getty Villa), Top Girls (Antaeus Theatre Company), Everything You Touch (Theatre at Boston Court), and Servant of Two Masters (Archway Theatre). Dave Honigman
Company Member

Dave Honigman serves on the Grants Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. He has been a part of the company for the past 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits; That Beautiful Laugh at 2012 Hollywood Fringe & Long Beach Playhouse (Performer as Tom One Klepton), Somewhere Like Earth (Performer), Lunatics & Actors (Stage Manager) and Four Clowns at South Coast Repertory (Stage Manager). Honigman was in Turner Munch’s Bitter Lemons award-winning Porter’s MacBeth and is on the Lyric Hyperion Theatre and Café team, serving you steamy lattes and “Et tu Brute”s. His work can be found on the internet and probably in his mother’s scrapbooks. His favorite form of humor is self-deprecation; he only wishes he were good at it.

Jennifer Carroll Abssy
Company Member

Jennifer Carroll Abssy is on the Artistic Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. This is her 1st season with Four Clowns. Four Clowns credits: Somewhere Like Earth (Performer as the Land Guardian). She has performed original work at ACME Comedy Mainstage, Highways Performance Space and Improv Olympic West. She has also performed with the New York Shakespeare Festival and toured the US with the National Shakespeare Company. She holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Educational Theater from NYU. Other training includes: ACME Sketch Writing, LA Theatresports, Ruth Zaporah’s Action Theater and The Clown School.

Don Colliver
Company Member

Don Colliver is on the Marketing Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. This is his 1st season with Four Clowns. Four Clowns credits: Noah and Jonah at the Annenberg Beach House (Performer). Don has performed with the Actors Gang, Wet the Hippo, Theatresports, the award-winning Improv Olympic mainstage sketch team, DJ Faucet, and with groups in literally hundreds of indie improv shows. He originated the lead role of “Captain Buck” in the 60’s space sex musical Wild Space A Go Go. Don graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University. He has trained in clowning at The Clown School and the Idiot Workshop. Don has a 20 year career in television production which has no idea about his alter-ego.

Corey Walter Johnson
Company Member

Corey Walter Johnson is on the Artistic Committee of Four Clowns, and is a company member. This is his 1st season with Four Clowns. He recently graduated from the MFA Acting program at USC where he worked in repertory playing Orgon in Tartuffe, Simon Stimson in Our Town, and Paris in Trojan Women. Corey performs at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in LA and New York in such shows as: This Is The Show?, 2pac: The Musical!, Slow Burn, and Onassis. Internationally, he played Tony in West Side Story at the Toulouse Opera House in France, where he ate like a king.

Raymond Lee
Associate Member

Raymond Lee is an associate member of Four Clowns. He has been a part of the company for the past 4 seasons. Four Clowns credits; Four Clowns (Performer as Angry Clown), Robin Hood at South Coast Repertory (Performer as Little John, Prince John, Friar Tuck & Will Scarlet), Four Clowns: Romeo & Juliet (Performer as Mercutio, Lord Capulet & Friar Lawrence), That Beautiful Laugh at 2012 Hollywood Fringe (Performer as O’Precious), Lunatics & Actors (Performer as Pepe), Me Rich You Learn (Assistant Director), and Henry’s Potato at REDCAT (Assistant Director). Raymond Lee is a Los Angeles native. He has performed at several venues in and around Los Angeles, some of which include: The Ahmanson Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Sacred Fools Theatre, The Carpenter Center, Open Fist, The Hayworth, UCB, The Queen Mary, and The Garage Theatre. Regional theaters include: Neo-futurist, Chopin Theatre (Chicago), The Gremlin (St. Paul), and Indy Fringe Theater (Indianapolis). Turner Munch
Associate Member

Turner Munch is an associate member of Four Clowns. He has been a part of the company for the past 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits; That Beautiful Laugh at 2012 Hollywood Fringe & Long Beach Playhouse (Director), Me Rich You Learn (Director), Somewhere Like Earth (Director), and Four Clowns at 2011 San Francisco Fringe (Performer as Mischievous Clown). Munch has trained with The Clown School with David Bridel and Orlando Pabotoy for three years. He continues to assistant direct Nancy Keystone and the Critical Mass Performance Group with their on-going new works Alcestis and Ameryka.

Adam Carpenter
Associate Member

Adam Carpenter is an associate member of Four Clowns. He has been a part of the company for the past 2 seasons. Four Clowns credits: Me Rich You Learn (Performer/Writer), and Henry’s Potato (Performer/Writer). He is a graduate of NYU’s Experiment Theatre Wing and has studied with The Clown School since 2011. As an improviser, Adam continues to perform at UCB: NY&LA, Second City, and Improv Olympics. Adam regularly collaborates with Zach Steel and their work has been produced at such prestigious theaters as La MaMa, the Gene Frankel, and PS122 in New York.

Jon Monastero
Associate Member

Jon Monastero is an associate member of Four Clowns. He has been a part of the company for the past 3 seasons. Four Clowns credits; Lunatics & Actors (Performer as Dr. Duchenne). Monastero has performed in multiple special events with Cirque du Soleil and is part of their active database of clowns. He has been on stage at the Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in four productions; The Composer is Dead (2008, 2013), The Planets (2012) and The Spirit of the Cello (2009). He’s also been on stage in The School of Night at the Mark Taper Forum, Summersounds at the Hollywood Bowl and L’Histoire du Soldat, a joint production of the San Francisco Ballet and SF Symphony. Jon is 1/2 of LA’s premier physical comedy duo, Ten West which has received audience and critical acclaim across N. America since 2005, and is also a founding member of LA’s only commedia dell’Arte troupe Studio Zanni.
